The Children's Memorial project began in 2006 by two women. Vikki Krocka and Donna Vanderhei both who lost children. Not wanting their sons forgotten, they set out to construct a memorial to help provide a place of memory for family and friends to gather, reflect, and celebrate the lives of those dear departed children. Prairie Home Cemetery donated the land to make the project a reality, along with donations  and generous support from families, friends, and local businesses.
