Prairie Home Cemetery History-page

Prairie Home has availability
in almost every section
of the cemetery. Although
some sections have limited
grave spaces available.
Each section hosts famous
past decedents, from past
Waukesha settlers, doctors,
to folks who have paved
the way for those to enjoy
Waukesha as it is today.
Prairie Home can also accommodate
private estate mausoleums.
There are several dating
from the turn of the century.
One such estate dating back
to 1901 was disassembled,
completely refurbished and
moved to a new site in the
cemetery. It contains both
above ground full size crypts
and cremation niches.
The New Section of the cemetery,
which is south of the drive
that divides the cemetery
between Prairie Avenue and
West Avenue, was first platted
in 1920. This section has
many available grave spaces
in already developed sections,
in addition to a Cremation
Garden, Mausoleum courtyard,
a refurbished semi-private
estate and a newly opened
(grave) section for over
2,000 new burials.
Prairie Home Cemetery is
non-denominational and non-secretarian,
serving all faiths. It is
our goal to offer products
and services regardless
of race, religion, economic
status or any other definable
difference.
