endowment care fund. Other
revenue is generated through
the sale of accessories
like flower vases, bouquet
holders, inscriptions on
above ground property and
annual sales of flowerbeds
and wreaths.
The majestic iron fence
was put up in the 1920’s
and recently the fence gates
were removed to allow visitors
with varied schedules to
visit Prairie Home Cemetery
as is convenient.
The stone chapel was built
in 1937, with generous donations
from several prominent Waukesha
residents of that time.
It was remodeled in 1967
with an estate donation
left to Prairie Home. The
chapel and administrative
offices have been currently
redecorated; the building
was remodeled in 1997 to
permit access by disabled
and handicapped persons.
The chapel offers seating
for approximately 60. The
chapel pews and seats can
be rearranged to accommodate
a variety of arrangements
including an informal post
luncheon gathering. Both “in
state” as well as
memorial services have taken
place in Prairie Home’s
chapel. The chapel has a
fireplace, which offers
a comforting atmosphere,
(in addition to providing
warmth on those blustery
Wisconsin winter days).
